Eau de Slaughterhouse? PETA Has an Answer to Meat Candles
Meat-scented candles? Apparently, the A.1. Sauce company thinks that people want their homes to smell like rotting animal carcasses.
A.1. has released a trio of meat-scented candles (in “Meat,” “BBQ,” and “Burger” varieties) for Father’s Day. So PETA is releasing a complementary set: hospital-scented candles to go along with them in “Heart Disease,” “Cancer,” and “Stroke” varieties.
PETA’s set will highlight the link between eating meat and suffering from some of America’s top diet-related diseases. A.1. Sauce is already vegan, so dads everywhere can slather it on seitan steaks, Gardein Beefless Tips, or Beyond Burgers (which are selling out nationwide) and be around for many more Father’s Days to come.
Meat, eggs, and dairy “products” contain no fiber and are loaded with artery-clogging saturated animal fat and cholesterol. The World Health Organization says that processed meat causes cancer, and according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, vegans are less prone to suffering from heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity than meat-eaters are.
Vegans also spare sensitive animals immense suffering: In today’s meat and dairy industries, cows are forcibly separated from their beloved calves, chickens’ throats are cut while they’re still conscious, piglets are castrated without painkillers, and fish are cut open while they’re still alive.
So show your pops and all dads that they’re A1: Have a cruelty-free Father’s Day.
