We love hearing what you guys are up to in the kitchen and last week we asked all our Instagram followers what they had planned (cooking-wise) for the weekend. Surprisingly quite a number of you said that you were going to make nachos.
While nachos might be a dish that you would expect to have been around for thousands of years, it actually only came into existence in 1943. According to Time, the maître d’ of the old Victory Club in Mexico’s Piedras Negras, Ignacio Anaya Mexico, sliced and fried some tortilla chips, covered them with grated Cheddar and sliced jalapeños, and put it in the oven for a couple of minutes.
We are so thankful for dear Ignacio’s culinary gift to the world. Who can say no to a crunchy, crispy tortilla chip that’s covered with oozing, melted cheese?
