Below, please find a statement from PETA Foundation Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Brittany Peet regarding The Gorilla Foundation’s refusal to allow Ndume the gorilla to return to the Cincinnati Zoo:
The Gorilla Foundation’s many animal-welfare citations include recklessly taking a leashed gorilla on walks and administering dangerous medication without a veterinarian’s approval—and no reputable, accredited facility would ever send another gorilla there. The Cincinnati Zoo offers the only chance that Ndume has of finally living with other gorillas, so PETA is urging the foundation to do the right thing by allowing qualified experts to take charge of his care.
PETA’s motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment,” and we’ve posted additional information about Ndume.
