I don’t know about you all, but I could use a drink right about now. This election season has been something to endure. I am in a state of high anxiety and I cannot wait for it to be a thing of the past. I hope that common sense and common decency prevail, and that those speaking from a place of hatred, fear, bigotry, and self-interest will soon learn that that sort of behavior is unacceptable. While taking these photos, I couldn’t help but be struck by the parallels to the sociopolitical climate. Looking at them reminds me to focus on finding the light spots even when things seem so very dark.
One of the light spots for me has been the closed Facebook group Pantsuit Nation. It has been a uniquely positive, uplifting and inspiring oasis in the midst of so much conflict and negativity. It gives me hope to see that so many people can focus on what really matters and be loving, encouraging, and accepting of all. You better believe I’m sporting my pant suit today! While some may feel that this is not the platform to discuss such matters, I strongly disagree. Keeping silent to avoid rocking the boat is part of what led us to this dark spot in the first place. I am determined to speak up about issues that matter to me, and to put those words into action at the ballot box and beyond.
And now, onto this fabulous cocktail! It’s just the thing for Election Day, or more likely, election night. In addition to being a bright spot in the dark quite literally, it is incredibly simple to make and you probably have all four ingredients on hand. Honey, water, lemon and gin mix up to make this delightful and naturally sweet beverage so you can focus on more important things like which Nasty Woman t-shirt to buy. Cheers to making history and making progress, my friends!
